Hmm...seems like the type to just leave their pets outside all day. Then by this thinking, we as humans, should not own any animal for any purpose. Not for care, support, and nourishment for the animal. For if you want them to run free, then they should be truely free to run about the Earth. No questions asked.

Apartment living has nothing to do with responsible ownership of any animal. As long as every basic need is taken care and the health of the pet is substantial, then who are anybody to judge? The percieved amount of stimulation and exercise varies from animal to animal as it does from human to human.

The original velcro dogs. I need another Dobe around the house. I miss their craziness.

way more important than having a yard is to match the breed/personality of
dog to your own.

absolutely no reason that apartment dwellers shouldn't own a dog .

Artie and I would be just as happy if we lived in a closet rather than a 2500 square foot house, as long as we were together. I know this because as happy as he is to zoom around in the back yard, acting like the wild and crazy guy that he is, as soon as I step into the house, he's running for the door to come in with me.

Hueyeats - from reading your other posts...do you have a stupid cat?

I'm so confused by this whole thread...like, what brought this whole thing on? The clip of the accident with the dog? REALLY?

Interesting - I don't even put collars on my big dogs because they wrestle and one could get his foot caught in another's collar (it's happened, it was bad)....so someone in this clip who made an honest error brought on this whole thing?

My goodness....bless your heart!

It is hard for me to believe it is anyone's business where a pet owner lives except the pet owner himself. What maybe more important is which breed of dog you have if you live in an apartment, that will take some research by the owner. As far as cats go, mine wouldn't do well in an apartment, they love being in our fenced back yard. I have rentals (houses) and a no pet allowed rule in all of them, with a signed agreement before anyone rents.

Haha, this is pretty funny but of course OP I am not taking you seriously at all. I live in an apartment although our complex is elevator-less so that incident wouldn't happen...and it's not like the owner did it on purpose.

You're right though, much better for my dogs to be in a shelter and eventually likely euthanized...the fact that my BF and I walk them 2x a day, play with them and take them to the dog park regularly is not important, obviously we're horrible dog owners and they're just oh so abused. We should instead get a house and leave them in the yard all day tied to a stake like half the people in our neighborhood and ignore them even if it's hot outside. That clearly shows you care.

This post is ridiculous. You just have to pay attention to the breed. A husky in a 1 or 2 bedroom apartment is a terrible idea, the dog would be miserable but a dachshund or a corgi would be fine as long as you exercised it regularly. Even some bigger couch potato dogs do fine in an apartment.
