I have no real preference.... mine are white with red speckles and mask, black with some red highlights and a couple of white patches, white with black patches (think of the cows in the chick-fil-a ads) and red with tan highlights.....
any future dogs that **I** choose (not those that choose me), I will try to focus on black.... black dogs are always the last to be adopted and the most often euthanized as a result.....

I never knew that; that's terrible. However, I did know that Moslems hate black dogs. Thank you for that information.
My little girl is black on top and a mix of white and brown underneath. She's had a gray muzzle since she was six but that seems common enough with black dogs.
yup, black dogs and cats, superstition combined with the fact that they just dont photograph well....
th GOOD news though is in studies of criminals, it became aparent that solid black dogs were also the best deterant...
while any dog of any size will detere most criminals, medium-large (lab sized) solid black dogs were the "scariests"...
i do think solid black dogs are stunning...

I'll focus on black too, also old.
it's known as black dog syndrome in the shelter / rescue community..... no one knows for sure why this is the case, but I think that Foxy hit on a couple of reasons...... they are difficult to photgraph well, some theorize that they don't show up as well in their kennels as their lighter colored cousins, may be some sort of stigma about black.... probably a combination of these and many other reasons.....
when I adopted Davey-Long-Legs, I had originally gone to look at another red heeler that had been there for a while.... but Bailey did not care for that fella AT ALL in their meet-n-greet.... so since I was there with Bailey anyway, I decided to look at other dogs they had..... my only criteria was that it had to be a boy to minimize possibility of Bailey getting her nose out of joint..... I specifically focused on the black dogs..... Davey-Long-Legs is not solid black, but he was the best match for us...... and he reared up and hugged me when I entered his kennel.... between that and the fact that he and Bailey hit it off pretty well.... well, the deal was sealed....
