Hello,

I have a 5 month old dachshund who is giving me a run for my money when it comes to potty training! We are crate training and have introduced a bell to the door so he can let us know when he needs to go outside.

The biggest problem... when we catch him going inside we say "No no!" and go to pick him up. If he has a chance to run before we pick him up he runs straight for the door that leads outside! This tells me he knows where he needs to be going when he needs to go outside, he just chooses not to go there!

The door to the outside of the house is through the kitchen so it is slightly out of the way for him to get to but we cannot change where the door is!

Please help! If you have any additional questions, please ask. I'm out of ideas!

Thank you!
-Aaron

The viralmd post about potty training will work if you follow it to the letter:

Dachshunds are very smart and can be difficult to potty train, I'd also suggest visiting a breed specific forum for help but the above link works if you follow it and don't give up too soon.
