Sometimes I feel like an idiot when I call him or correct him (to stop him from barking). People must wonder how the heck the poor dog ended up with a name like "juice". LOL.

The shelter named him Beetle. I thought that was a dumb name for a dog.
Hey I do know a gut named Bruce that has an aussie named Juice so people doe have dogs with that name sois you lived near me and I heard you calling Joose I would think nothing of it!

When I brought my terrier/collie mix home from the pound, my husband asked her name, I proudly stated, "Millie" (after the character in 7 brides for 7 brothers).

I then proceeded to tell my husband that she (the dog) was on Winter Clearance at the pound, it was January and she had a special tag on her kennel in the pound. The special tag said she was on winter clearance and her adoption fee was waived. My husband responded, "So you mean she had a coupon?"

From that moment on my husband decided her name was Coupon. It stuck.

Variations are:Coupon, Coup, Coup-a-doop

My little foster is named Gabriel which means "God is my strength". He had health problems and we wanted a special name for him.

An acquaintance of mine believes dogs live up to their names. Now to come up with the perfect name that means "listens to owner".

I have a "curly" and "Moe", unfortunately their litter mate "Larry" passed away earlier this year. They were the "three stooges".

I have decided the next pup will be named "Hairy" or "Hariyette" depending on its gender. I have also thought of "Doug" as in "Doug the dog".

My two cats are named "Chairman Meow" and "Flea taxi".

I had a reddish/yellow chow/shepherd cross named Ginger. It was a place holder that stuck. Totally unoriginal, I know. I tried to come up with some more original names in the first couple of months, but they always sounded pretentious or out of character.

Then again, over her lifetime I probably had over a hundred people exclaim, "That's the PERFECT name for her!"

This is a funny thread!! My latest and last and smallest dog I've ever had is named Velcro. Right now as I type this he is glued to my hip. He is a chi. and thinks his whole purpose in life is to be where I am.
