Ours was easy, a Basenji Chiuahua mix he looks just like a fox, enough so that perfect strangers always comment exactly that when they see him, to honor his Mexican heritage we named him Zoro (Spanish for fox) and it suited him perfectly.

My yellow lab mix came from a shelter with the name Moose. I didn't like it much, but he had been bounced around from home to shelter to home to rescue etc, that I didn't have the heart to change his name on him. Now I can't imagine him with any other name. My other dog is named Piper, nicknamed Pipes-a-lot, & she does speak her mind.
I've had Tugger, who pulled your socks right off your feet; Poco, short for Pocahontas, "little mischief".

I've decided, after seeing so many dogs get returned to a shelter after their adopters decide they aren't ready for the problems that sometimes come with shelter dogs...that my next shelter pooch will be named Keeper. No matter what.

My living dogs are named, Cerberus, (the three headed dog that guarded the gates) and Thora, (goddess of thunder)

Past dogs, Tantrum, the name matched his personality. Crutches, my husband had a broken ankle and was using crutches at the time we found her under the car in the snow. D.O.G (say the letters), Booger, he was just the cutest little booger when he was rescued. Full of worms, vet surprised he was alive. I wouldn't leave him at the vet for the de-worm, in case he died, I didn't want him to be alone. I let the vet worm and I took him home. P B (Pit Bull)

One of our standard poodle girls is "Diamond Jubilee". WE call her Jubi most of the time but JU BI LEE when she is in trouble. We have kept a black female puppy from our last litter and we have called her "Chantilly Lace" We call her Tilly most of the time.
