Are dog lovers generally nicer people than cat lovers?

I love dogs and am pretty much cat neutral! In general I don't believe that liking/owning one or the other makes any difference in someone's personality. Now if you have 12 cats or like a woman I met a few years back, 12 dogs with an astroturfed yard ....you likely have some issues!
The political division in this country is bleeding over to pet ownership. We have to absolutely resist that. The idea that dog owners or cat owners are somehow "nicer" (or "better" ot whatever) just feeds into that nonsense. Logically, there is no difference. Tio me, empathy for animals generally means far or ethan empathy for a dog versus a cat versus a burd versus a rabbit versus ferret....etc. Empathy is an important human trait, period.
