Are you a dog lover? What do you think? I generally think so, the people that I've met who love dogs are very friendly, not all... but the cat-lovers I've met have proven themselves to be more standoffish & not as open than to people who have dogs as pets...

As you can surmise from my username, I'm not inclined to agree with you. Whether a person is "nice" or not depends on the person, not their choice of pet.

I place pet owners on top of all people on the norm.
As much as I agree with catman, I tend to disagree. Of all the pet owners I have known in the last 50 years, cats are disposable.
When it came to medical care, cat owners usually went with euthanasia other than surgery.
I have known dog owners to loose their houses to pay for their dogs care.
The cat owners I known had a cap of a hundred for vet care.

My wife and I were out $12,000 last year for three ferrets medical care.
She and I have always understood, pets adopted into the family are always family.

Yeah cause those guys that raise fighting dogs are all about the community, lol. The argument can go either way and there is good and bad in just about any group. I've known plenty of great pet owners and a few terrible pet owners what pet they had didn't seem to factor into it much.

People who use pets for fighting are no better than rapists.
A real pet owner would never think of their human child fighting than their furkids.

I'm an animal person and I relate to other animal people. Folks who don't have relationships with animals are just different. I don't trust 'em!

Well, I have both cats and dogs, as does my daughter and many others I know. So how do you think we rate? I think it's a silly comparision.

Pet people are just naturally more friendly. You may think dog owners more friendly as see people walking dogs and talk to them more out in public.

My 2 cents for what it is worth: Nice has nothing to do with it when it comes to pet owners. I do feel that cat owners tend to be more laid back and less argumentative or reserved than dog owners. Dog owners are more active and verbal, might be just from having perpetual 2 yr olds running around. Had read an article a long time ago where some study said that cat owners had a higher I.Q, though that was interesting but at best it was just a article.
As to the "fighters", they are not pet owners. The poor dogs are not kept for pets they are for cash and sick entertainment.
