western Long Island (urban by many people's standards, but suburban to us)--around $50 to just get looked at.

My Vet is in Sugar Land Tx & for one dog the "Exam Fee" is $55.00. However, I get a volume discount if I bring in more than one dog at a time and he waives the exam fee if its a rescue or foster dog. Its $44.00 for each dog if I bring my fur-kids in together. Same vet waived the exam fee and some of the procedure fees when I lost my Sammie. He also performed the necropsy for free since he wanted to know as much as I did what had killed a young and seemingly healthy dog. I love our vet. I can't put a price on the peace of mind he gives me. I know that he is diagnosing and treating my dogs in the best and most caring way possible.

I won't tell him this but I'd pay double that fee for that peace of mind I get from him and his staff.

$55 give or take in my city. Also, one of my vets differentiates between "well visits" and "sick visits." Sick visits cost more.

What's the going rate and are you in a 'busy' or rural area?

(I plan on moving to a busy area soon and want to know what I can expect).
Thanks.
$48, just the visit. (The clinic is supposed to be cheap, though)

$50 and if I bring in two, it's $30 for the second one. That does not include any meds. I live in the city.

The vet's office my dogs went to closed last year. It was due to non payment from clients. Vets get hit by a bad economy too.

My vet gives a very substantial discount for rescues. We were very pleasantly surprised!

$65 for a vet check and exam. But most times she charges half price for meds and other procedures. I took 3 dogs in and she checked them all, did bloodwork etc and charged only one dog. When the list of procedures is too long the cost is only a few things and nothing for the rest.
