I don't see any reason for the economy to improve, especially by next year. We are in for a long ride. People would like to consume, but there is not enough money in the hands of the people, and no opportunity for many of them to acquire it. Jobs are paying less and less, and people keep lining for anything paying a wage. Most people are using their money for the necessities, as well as paying off old debt. Other people are going in to debt just to survive.

Now, with all this... Imagine what is going to happen once all that QE money hits the markets in full... I'm talking about the stock piles that the banks are sitting on. Inflation will be the nail in the coffin. That will squeeze dry the last people standing. History will show, the government destroys everything it touches. For the last 30 years, it seems as though our government has set out to annihilate this country's economy! Get better??? Keep dreaming!

Quite possible, but most people I know are much more fiscally resposible than they were 4 years ago and are in a better place to handle a double dip recession then the first time.

The US economy will eventually come to destruction (suddenly or gradually), but not within a year (probably) and that downward path will be full of sawteeth, so predicting whether we are in a peak or a valley a year from now is both impossible and pointless.

I actually do see things getting better late 2012... housing, economy, etc... jobs will improve but still be a drag for about 5-6 more years... hopefully we get a different president otherwise... everything is really going to suck... that is, the government trying to suck everybody's money and blood...
