Down and out: the French flee a nation in despair - Telegraph

Looks like not only the rich, but also the skilled and marketable individuals are also considering fleeing France.

We should welcome these people.

That's why we need them here to vote against this country becoming France.

People are leaving France not based on any figures of people moving...but because a single opinion poll said taxes were too high?

It's not just tax. Their welfare state has led to the fleeing of opportunities, followed by the fleeing of the young who want a better future.

Yes, we must all bow before global capitalism. Who cares if it results in poverty and a two-tiered inequality or stagnant mobility, right!?

The solution would be for all countries to become more like France, but the prisoner's dilemma of global economics will ensure a race to the bottom. One where we create more wealth more efficiently than ever in human history while too few people share in that magnificent accomplishment, thus robbing the accomplishment of any effective value.

It has little to do with prisoners dilemma. France is the only country that should be like France. Countries have their own culture and values. Why should other countries be like France? The world is much more diverse than cultural hegemony.

The French are just privileged at a high level and now face the consequences of such privilege. In a global economy the workers in china India and Brazil are much more willing to create a better future. When you have people like that it's hard to come up with much sympathy toward the French who want to work less and get more.

As someone of French descent (aka a Frenchie) I have to ask what nation in its right collective mind would welcome a bunch of Frenchies anyway?

There are 2 young French families that showed up at a recent neighborhood get together and they are pessimistic about the direction of France and are happy to be working in the USA. France penalizes success and that is stagnating a creative people.

That kind of ignores the point I made. It doesn't show any numbers of people moving, taking jobs elsewhere, or any other movement measure. If people want to show that workers are fleeing they should show how many actually are doing so. That's how evidence, and even common sense, works.

Since the same evidence can show they are not moving to England but to Bulgaria, staying and trying to fix things, or attempting a takeover of Brazil with ironic t shirts. People take opinion polls and pull conclusions that they already think are true out of their butts because they already decided the conclusion. They were looking for something to support it. The exact opposite of how conclusions should be made.
