Good to hear some sanity for a change.

They also own a ton of US paper. By further deflating its value they'd only commit economic suicide.
I thought you wanted to deflate its value?

I do.

If the Chinese get into a currency war, then it will force us to deflate the US$ value even more, which will further depreciate the trillions of US$ they own. They'd be shooting themselves in the foot.

We don't have to reduce the value much, just enough to close the overall trade gap. Merely signaling the intent to close it, would likely be enough.

I don't see a war needing to happen. Although a Trump might push it.

China over time is and will be able to buy more of what it needs in the world with Yuan. USD debt will remain a good and stable enough store of value for China to keep for diversity sake. But a few $T of depreciating USD will not break them. And less of a bind moving forward.

Moving along it must be forbidden ( nobody cares) to add another 85 trillion ( oh my!!) via ENTITLEMENTS!!! Just The cash Government cash debt ( not including 4 trillion consumer debt) you would need $59,445 from every single US person (over 333 million) . So start writing checks $8.25-12.00 hourly suckas!! Seriously, we are 215 years from recovery and it needs to be said just in case some real prodigy can dig us out!!!
You are scary. I not talking to you.

No one is asking you for $55,445. Our National Debt will not ever need to be paid down, as would a personal loan by you or your heirs. Our Nation is expected to be immortal along with its debt.
