More automation. Looks like no employees except cleaners and stockers.

Amazon Go grocery store of the future: PHOTOS, VIDEO - Business Insider

- You scan the app on a futuristic turnstile when you enter the store.
- Everything you add to your bag is automatically added to your cart — the system will even know whether you put something back.
- When you're done shopping, you can simply walk out of the store.
- The store will automatically charge the credit card on your Amazon account and send a receipt to your phone.
- The first store is set to open to the public in downtown Seattle in early 2017.

Won't be long and we'll be wishing for the good old days of Wal-Mart!

The good old days were buying gingham down at the general store.

If you're already a prime member Amazon is great for non-perishable stuff that you buy regularly like laundry detergent, pet food, etc. it just keeps on showing up at the front door.

Did you price gingham in the good old days? You could now buy a small wardrobe for the relative cost of a few yards.

Hipster Heaven.

There's more than one way around the $15 minimum wage.

Default Amazon GO: A bad bet for jobs

https://www.yahoo.com/news/m/548bac1...ost-calls.html

I'm all for technology to make our lives better - but Amazon GO seems to have crossed the line.
How many more millions of jobs are going to be lost, and what are all these people going to be doing?

In the short term, they will likely keep the people that were cashiers to assist customers with the transition. After a year or two, they will reduce the staff to be greeters/assistants to the shoppers. Will they completely eliminate the human element? I doubt it for now, but they will drastically reduce the number needed.

If even China is now exploring worker reduction through robots and technology, we don't stand much of a chance. On the upside America will see manufacturing come back in facilities that are almost fully automated to service specific regions.

They should train more electricians, plumbers. These people don't grow on trees and actually have skills that they can earn a living with.
