Many are just plain unemployable in any decent job .
They can't pass a drug test , a credit check or a background check just to get to 1st base .
Then they speak english so poorly they can't be used anywhere they interface with customers . IT IS MIND BOGGLING HOW MANY ADULTS OF ALL AGES AND ECONOMIC STATUS USE DRUGS .
Whatever the media may say, I DO NOT think things are doing well and I fear that things may get worse in the future.
In the past you have complained about having ADHD, Aspergers, issues finding a job, and a host of other problems.
Perhaps your personal issues have clouded your judgment. Writing numerous gloom and doom posts is not going to change your situation or alter the poor outcomes you fear or make your predictions any more likely.
You are more likely to have success if you try to understand the facts, try to understand the job market and use that knowledge to help yourself succeed.
Wait I thought the unemployment is at like 5% or something. It was reported to be close to that. And isnt that essentially full employment. What the heck are you guys talking about?
Persons not in the labor force include those aged 16 years and older in the civilian non-institutional population who are neither employed nor unemployed.
I am sure there is a lot of elderly people. People are living longer.
It will be difficult for those that intentionally didn't prepare. Millions of Americans placed their bets on a new President and Federal Government that would continue to condone a generation of slackers.
Soon their parents will evict them from the basement and will have to actually support themselves.
Happy New Year!

In many cases, people are also working longer. But geez, retired people have always been the largest single component among those who are not in the labor force. There is pretty much a three-way tie for second place among students, the disabled, and stay-at-home caregivers. Taken together, those three categories would be about 20% larger than the number of retirees. As a further FYI, about 18% of the civilian noninstitutional population over the age of 16 is 65 and older. 82% are younger than that.
I don't know what you see but as I travel throughout the US I see an economy that is not in good shape for most people. I see alot of homeless people and I have seen this sharply increase over the years as I visit major cities to go business conference. I am also seeing it in the smaller places I grew up in which I never saw anything like it before and more people holding signing asking for food or money.
Or you could have been a kid who didn't notice such things

Fortunately, rather than just personal observation, there are statistics covering numbers of homeless and their locations. You can obtain a wealth of information from the National Alliance to End Homelessness. The facts show that the rates of homelessness have been steadily declining for the past decade. We also know that chronic homelessness often has little to do with the economy. Mental illness and drug addiction are the two major causes.
