I imagine they are still mopping up the bloodbath at the NYSE.

You seem disappointed that we did not have a 1929 style crash today. I am not a Trumper but I want the market and economy to boom. Who cares who gets credit for it or who wins elections because of it.
What in the world are you even talking about? I was making fun of the OPs overblown and partisan doom and gloom prediction just like everyone else (400 points but only ended up at 66 points when all said and done), it had nothing to do with wanting an upturn or downturn.

Too much Trump Derangement Syndrome going on in this thread.

People need to tune out from the "news" and just relax.

Your sarcastometer must need to be fixed.

Just wanted to make sure - that's why we have the emoticon features (a wink or something), although I hate using them myself.

I should have known better. If I see 50% or more posts in the P&C forum from a member (the OP seems to fit that category) it tells me that member is just posting nonsensical political garbage unrelated to reality and thus doesn't warrant a further response.

Big earnings reports week. Positive results will overcome tariff concerns. If I were going to take a break from the market, I'd do it this week. Summer looks flat at best.

As you were saying - it's now down 530.

Whether or not it corrects by the end of the day, I wish Trump would shut it for a change.

This government policy via Tweet is asinine.

I'm not sure which end of the dumbbell is heavier... nonstop brainless tweets or a complete absence of WH press briefings.

They add up to way too much, though.

Sensationalist thread titles is also asinine.

It had nothing to do with the tweet. That was on Sunday, the market corrected itself with little impact on Monday.
However on Monday afternoon (I think after markets closed) US trade representative Robert Lighthizer says the higher tariffs on China will take effect at 12:01 a.m. Eastern time Friday via an official press briefing. that reaffirmation and added detail impacted the market today.
The real acid test will be the results of Thursday's trade talk with China.
