It is beatable when cards rotating cards are at 5%.

For only that period of time and requires extra effort. Not sure it's worth the extra half of a percent.

Depends on your need. Also CSR PYB for restaurants is temporary.

PYB is, the base 3% isn't.

Right.... 3% isn't anything special for restaurants. There's several category cards that give up to 5% and there are free cards that give 3% for restaurants all year round. PYB is what makes the CSR compelling for restaurants while it lasts. Especially for someone like me who has a boatload of points to go through.

The citi cash card can always be at 5% up to 500 a month if you want your category to be restaurants instead of groceries or travel .you pick

if you ever travel overseas, merchant fees are much higher than ours, small shopowner just cringe when they see you whip out a card.
The last time I was in JAPAN,there is a sign in a restaurant that they only take cc if it is over 10,000 yens!!!
Our merchant fee could be as low as 1%,but most small shops pay more and there is a transaction fee,say 10 cents.and some charges an annual fee say 99 dollars, and chargeback fee can vary ,it can go as high as $50,but most are $35.
and that machine ,there is rental fee per month.
All for the convenience of customers not having to carry cash or buy now,pay later

Funny, I didnt think I sent that because I realized that there were likely rotating category type cards that beat it. However, categories that cap spending usually dont work for me because my spending is usually either too high or too low to matter. In this case, we spend substantially more than $500 on dining per month so we would have to switch cards when reachint that point and I am trying to avoid situations like that.
