Public education in the United States may have come into being during decades when agriculture was the dominant activity in the society; however, the educational content has not been geared to agricultural activities for more than a century - at least.
I went to twelve years of public school in a small town located in the rural countryside during the 40's and 50's. In the entire twelves years there was only one (optional) course that pertained to agriculture.
