That MSNBC poll is meaningless. Everyone knows that Ron Paul supporters bombard any online poll.
Perhaps that is true, but maybe it's the only way to give the guy a fair chance. If the masses atleast show he has some support, then the media can't completely dismiss him as some lunatic on the fringe.

I think his supporters and organizers should be commended for the job they do.
Rick perry is done... The Social Security comment just ended his chances... Nobody wants that taken away from them...
It will hurt him with those older voters who weren't sold on him to begin with, but those that were already backing him, seem to still be. I find it surprising myself.

Thank you, it might hurt him with some seniors for the time being, but when we hear more about what he would do to try and re-vam it, many will support him. At least those who on the fence. You know he didn't really say, (and I listened again) he wanted to do away with SS, he said "as it is now" To me, he is saying changes have to occur and he is completely right. He also referred to the kids in their 20s, not those approaching SS age or those already receiveing it.

Let's put it this way, we may not want it taken away, but if you are under about 40 now, unless changes are made and that is what he said, you are going to lose it. You can't keep paying for something with no money. When are people going to realize it was never meant to be a sole means of support in old age. at the time it started the average life span was only 64 years and you couldn't collect until you were 65. Now it isn't unusual to live to be 90.

That is irrelevant from the point. The point is that you've got a man up there preaching against social security, when the majority of Americans embrace that program.

Not a good thing.
so lets keep fooling oursleves and pretend it will be there forever. Right now we have 2 candidates preaching the same thing: it has got to change. My own family, ranging in age from early 50s to late 20s agree. The program can not continue the way it is going. It is beyond my wildest imagination how intellegent people and most of those on this forum are inteliigent can not understand this. bTW, I could be wrong but I do not think the majority of the Americans do embrace SS...
