Ron Paul wins California GOP straw poll

Republican presidential hopeful Ron Paul is the winner of a straw poll conducted among Golden State Republicans.
The Texas congressman drew large, boisterous crowds of supporters for several speaking appearances at the state party convention under way this weekend at the JW Marriott in downtown Los Angeles. He won roughly 45 percent of the 833 ballots cast.
"I think the main purpose of our Constitution and political action should be the preservation of liberty," Paul told delegates on Constitution Day.
Texas Gov. Rick Perry, whose supporters also flocked to the poll site en mass, came in second place with 29 percent of the vote.
Trailing the two top picks was former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, who secured a distant third place slot with just 9 percent of the votes cast.
Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann, who delivered the keynote address to delegates on Friday night, came in fourth place with 7.7 percent of the vote.

Ron Paul is the only republican who could take Cali from the democrats. Paul is the real deal. Does this country want the truth? I'm not so sure.

Ron Paul has consistently been supportive of conservative and very logical reasoning that clearly demonstrates how and why much of our current policy is nothing but a huge failure. I can only hope that he gets nominated, otherwise we are left with horrible Republican choices and a proven failure as our only choices to run this country. It is incredibly sad to see that we have deteriorated to the point of accepting such mediocrity as the only viable alternatives.

Yes! It is getting to be that way more and more now. Typically you see that in polls where they don't list Ron Paul's numbers next to his name, they will put his numbers next to "Other" which are always a LOT more than those in first and second place and leave him out completely. They just did that recently in a few polls. It is getting exciting! He is surging ahead. Pretty soon the media will be the laughing stock as their attempts to ignore him and fabricate lies will be so OBVIOUSLY a sham.

Just shows how liberal Ron Paul really is. True conservatives will never vote for him. I won't.

LMAO Paul a liberal? A true conservative believes in small government and votes in small government candidates. How's the status quo working?

That's the best part! His support is strong enough not to conform to the manipulation. As Ron Paul says, 'freedom is popular'. I can't wait to vote for him in the primary.
