Not really, if McCain had had the enthusiastic support of Republicans across the board in 08, he would have won. Many voters sat that one out because they could not get behind McCain. This time around is going to be a different story.

Most of the primary voters didn't even vote for Romney. Yet the "wave of enthusiam" has them suddenly acting like he's the greatest thing since Swiss cheese.
