Independents who were run-off or otherwise made to feel uncomfortable in the GOP would support Rice, IMO. The current base of the party, however, is comprised, mostly, of racists and other extremists and I doubt they'll favor Rice. An intelligent black woman for VP? Not on your life. Not with that ilk.
I think this would be one of the best choices possible.
She seems the anti-Palin. Intelligent, thoughtful, and moderate and she has executive experience as Chancellor at Stanford, I think. She would not terrify women or democrats. Conservatives? Can't say.
My only beef with Condi is the straight A student effect. It was pretty clear to me that she was much smarter than W, but when he was making terrible choices, she did not stand up to him. She wanted to much to please her superior, when in reality she was superior in knowledge, intelligence, and foreign policy judgment. What does this say about her ability to lead? I don't know. My biggest complaint with Romney is his lack of solidity (I mean what the hell does the guy stand for?). Condi might have the same problem. That is the straight A problem, I do my assignments very well, but what do I do when there is not teacher to give me a gold star? We see that a lot in science. Good students are often mediocre researchers, because the independent judgment required to be a researcher is not the same as taking good notes and acing exams.
That said, putting forward two intelligent executives candidates would be a good move for the GOP. She might alienate the base, but I think she would gain independents.
she is pro-choice....the way the R's are now, she would never be allowed on a national ticket.
