Let's look at the Declaration of Independence, shall we? The article's author has a strange argument, not Ted Cruz. Let's not rewrite history.

"Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security."

Ted Cruz SLAMS Republican majority in the Senate for allowing Lynch nomination

He also adds that not a single Republican can vote for such a nomination and be consistent with their oath of office to support and defend the Constitution.
Keeping his promise to his constituents. It's what he promised to do.

“The Second Amendment to the Constitution isn’t for just protecting hunting rights, and it’s not only to safeguard your right to target practice,†said one of those people, Senator Ted Cruz of Texas. “It is a Constitutional right to protect your children, your family, your home, our lives, and to serve as the ultimate check against governmental tyranny — for the protection of liberty.â€

He would once again be correct.

The framers of the Constitution wanted to preserve the possibility, or even encourage the idea, of armed rebellion against the government.

The tree of liberty, must be nourished by the blood of patriots and tyrants. - Thomas Jefferson.

"Those who hammer their guns into plowshares will plow for those who do not." - Thomas Jefferson

"The greatest danger to American freedom is a government that ignores the Constitution." - Thomas Jefferson

"What country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance. Let them take arms." - Thomas Jefferson

"The constitutions of most of our States assert that all power is inherent in the people; that … it is their right and duty to be at all times armed; … " - Thomas Jefferson

"I ask, Sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people. To disarm the people is the best and most effectual way to enslave them." - George Mason

"Firearms stand next in importance to the constitution itself. They are the American people's liberty teeth and keystone under independence … from the hour the Pilgrims landed to the present day, events, occurences and tendencies prove that to ensure peace security and happiness, the rifle and pistol are equally indispensable … the very atmosphere of firearms anywhere restrains evil interference — they deserve a place of honor with all that's good." - George Washington

"The supposed quietude of a good man allures the ruffian; while on the other hand arms, like laws, discourage and keep the invader and plunderer in awe, and preserve order in the world as property. The same balance would be preserved were all the world destitute of arms, for all would be alike; but since some will not, others dare not lay them aside … Horrid mischief would ensue were the law-abiding deprived of the use of them." - Thomas Paine

"To preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them." - Richard Henry Lee

"There are men in all ages who mean to govern well, but they mean to govern. They promise to be good masters, but they mean to be masters. " - Noah Webster

"The people never give up their liberties but under some delusion." - Edmund Burke

"They that give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." - Ben Franklin

The actual Jefferson quote is:
"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is it’s natural manure."

Because the ACA was written in an unconstitutional manner, being rewritten by the President, two legislative proposals were put forward to vote on - one for Obamacare and one for the entire federal government.

The budgeting process should, in reality, have a dozen separate spending bills, one for defense, one for the criminal justice systems, etc. etc.

The House passed, by a strong majority vote, saying, "We will fund everything else and handle the ACA as a separate issue."

The media report, no surprise here, was misleading. It was the President who refused to budge and could not have cared less whether the government shut down or not.

Some of the Rhino Republicans sided with the media as a political maneuver to save their hides. Interestingly, Sen. Ted Cruz was correct that the House and Senate would win while Scott Walker, Jeb Bush, Mitt Romney, Paul Ryan, Chris Christie, John McCain, among 49 Republicans, put out the fear mongering that we need to step back, that it was a bad strategy.

The reality is that we won big in the House and Senate. Sen. Ted Cruz is able to see the forest through the trees. He knows what the American people believe and want from their representatives.

Ted Cruz didn't shut down the government. The President shut it down.

Already heard that story, I already know Cons believe it. You still seem to be confused about why Repubs win in off-Presidential years and they lose in Presidential election years and continue to believe the Cons have some sort of mandate. Let me ask this, when are the Cons going to get the wheels moving again, you said elect us and we will fix the machine, looks like it is still moving in slow motion to me. Will they do something before 2016? I would suggest making some progress while running for election continuously otherwise the Dems are going to point out that the Cons are long on talk and short on walk.
