That is a major issue in the architecture field as well, it is hard to compete with people willing to take less for an architecture job.

It sometimes depends on the region you are in.

But also, there are a lot of bad programmers out there. Lots of sloppy code. Lots of poor planning. Lots of poor documenting. Kids straight out of University are often pretty clueless, and there are only so many entry level positions.

Companies need experienced disciplined programmers. So sometimes they need to look for outside help.

But some companies also end up hiring these experienced programmers and pretty much pay them like a newer programmer. So they are getting the experience at a discounted rate. If they paid full price there may be qualified Americans that would take the job.

Facebook, Google, Apple etc are not hiring cheap labor. These guys are making well into the six figures plus amazing benefits. Sorry, I live in the heart of tech start ups and there is a shortage right now. There are protests because they say these companies are paying TOO MUCH, yes they are paying TOO MUCH, which is causing rents and real estate to go crazy.

Trump is a National Socialist and his policies are true national socialism. Many so called Republicans are not capitalists but national socialists.

If he was a true capitalist he would be all for immigration and free movement of labor.

I'm very positive that the SEIU had a decision in this, as nurses are highly organized like teachers. Lesson learned perhaps

Why should an American lose a job to a foreigner?

Why should foreign competition ever be a factor in hiring and pay scale?

Why do we need to bring economic refuges to the US?

So much for free market capitalism.

I'm actually very impressed that he is consistent on the immigration issue. It makes him more respectable.

I think this is the first idea he has that i agree with. At least one that is not a fantasy. Build a wall and MAKE MEXICO pay for it? Dream on.

If there really is a tech shortage, then we need to figure something else out. Free education to Americans in specific majors (the ones society needs as opposed to the ones that won't get you jobs) might be a start.

If there's a shortage, let those companies train programmers themselves -- programmers who are U.S. citizens.

The airlines train pilots, so there is no reason why tech companies can't train programmers if they need them so badly.

The same goes for any other business.

There is plenty of talent in America, and there is no need to import it from elsewhere.

This reminds me of American symphony orchestras that never hire an American conductor because Americans aren't "exotic" enough. So Americans have to go to Europe to get jobs conducting....

And no: Capitalism and free markets should NOT trump borders, language, culture, taking care of your own people first, and national identity.

If saying that makes me a "national socialist" (which, of course, it does not), then fine -- I'm proud to be a national socialist.

Greed is at an all time high... that is what happens when God is kicked out and the love of money takes its place. Ethics and caring about Americans and employing them is not on the radar anymore. It is all about the bottom line and getting cheap labor .. it is Greed .

Exactly.
