I live in San Francisco and I can tell you there is a shortage of programmers in the US and that is why companies want to make H-1B visas more available. I don't like government controlling these kinds of decisions, it should be the business's decision, so in these regard, he is more of a Democrat than even Sanders!

Hmmmmm I applaud Trump for saying what he believes, but Conservatives will hate this idea. I'm a moderate and I also hate it. We need to make legal immigration more available while cutting down on illegal immigration. We should encourage educated people to move to the US.

You're not a Conservative, so don't presume to speak for them.

Trump is on the mark about the employment visas. And let's not confuse legal entry into the U.S. to work, with legal immigration to acquire citizenship. I can see why Zuckerberg is wigging out about potentially losing his cheap labor, but many see the current H-1B visa program for what it is: an easy way to supplant American workers in their own country.

And plenty of Conservatives think that's what stinks.

They say I'm pretty damn Conservative, I agree with making those that want to hire non-Americans, pay more.

I also agree, we need trade tariffs to protect jobs here in the USA.(If there were not so many rules and regulations, and not a welfare state, I would not hold this stance)

Hell on earth has come to the USA... When your government works against you, there is a bigger problem than anyone expected.

This nation, when it was more "Godly", committed far worse atrocities than luring cheap labor from Mexico and Central America.

There is no shortage.

I have family members just out of college with computer science degrees from great private schools. You’d think Amazon and Google would snap them up. Wrong. You won’t believe what they put them through? 2 phone interviews before they are handed off to a technical person for another grueling set of interviews asking mind teaser questions. 5 of these interviews and nothing. You mean to tell me someone out of Bangalore passes these phone interviews and ours don’t?

I am all for “free movement of labor” if they first deposit how much I have paid in taxes. Just 5 years will do.

There is no shortage of American workers. We don't need them (immigrants). This is corporate greed. I agree 100% with Trump on this!

They might.

Also a few things to keep in mind.

1) Most programmers straight from University are not prepared to do high level programming projects

2) The h1b workers are not recent graduates. They are experienced developers
