And when you say there's a difference between libel and freedom of speech, something the progressive left has trouble understanding, that is clearly a reference to Donald. Donald doesn't have a clue when it comes to free speech and libel.

One of the only positive aspects of this whole mess is that those of us capable of thought are getting a first hand, up-close education on how the nazis were able to do what they did. We've all studied the perfect storm of circumstances that converged to make fascism possible but it still seemed far fetched in a way. Now we are witnessing how very easy it is for a populist strongman to garner support and how fragile a democratic society can be in the face of demagoguery.

Trump supporters are the comment section of youtube. They are ultimately swayed by entertaining one-liners. Their mentally ill leader uses his rallies to publicly demonstrate that he could literally kill someone on 5th ave in broad daylight and they would still follow him. They care only about being entertained. This is the final stage of the fall of the Roman empire and Trump represents the circus. These people really do not care that a president Trump would absolutely shut down any press that refuses to spread his propaganda. Trump supporters don't care where the Trump Train is headed, as long as there is constant entertainment along the way.

The Nazis were progressive leftists who showed up invited to a function with the words "National (as in NPR) Socialist Workers" scribbled above the doorbell. Who shows up to "Socialist Workers Party" gatherings?

Obama's forerunners in 1933 even had their own solar symbol.

You really missed the point. This is not about Right vs Left. My post was about the mechanism by which populist strongmen sway and control uncritical minds. It was Hitler who said "how fortunate it is for governments that the people do not think."

I think there were more and other circumstances to the rise of the NAZI movement.

It's bluster, nothing more. Does it make him sound ignorant? Indeed it does.

Much the same as all of those who despise the Citizen United ruling.

You calculatedly inject Hitler into the post (even though he ran a progressive leftist movement called a National (as in NPR) Socialist Workers Party). Then attempt to use that to formulate a claim that a people weary of neocon criminals who co-opted the Republican Party in the late 70s before the paleo Reagan's final stand, are somehow not aware that they are deliberately voting for a plainspeaking individual who not only is unbeholden to donor money but who also without hesitation placed his business brand squarely in the line of sacrifice in order to do something he feels strongly enough about.

But you'll vote for the processed stuff relabeled Democratic Socialism.
