As for the politics of guns, guns aren't a "social issue", they are a Constitutional Right, and unlike gay rights or abortion rights ( which I support btw ) gun rights are explicitly enshrined in the Constitution.

Yes, at a time when drones and the Patriot Act were considered fantasy.

But if the GOP drops the religious rhetoric, they dont have a party left. Not many people actually believe in their economic message funded by the billionaire class. Thats why they have to appeal to the religious right and the nativists who has other issues they want to see addressed.

Exactly. It makes Trump a charlatan and a hypocrite ... and a far worse liar than anybody else in this campaign that he and his Trumplets have accused of being a liar.

Both the nativists and "Religious Right" types tend to be older White people living in rural areas - the fastest shrinking electoral demographic. I think we would be better off ditching the ignorance and intolerance and expanding our party to include younger people and minorities.

A center-right party based around economic issues rather than bashing gay people, deporting Mexicans, banning Muslims, and governing according to the Bible.

Its hardly different than the democratic economic message of spend billions policing the world and bail out or hand out tax breaks and favors your political friends (ie. banks, health care companies, unions, auto manufacturers, green energy producers) to try and buy votes.

Yeah, and? Last time I checked, the Second Amendment was still a part of the Bill of Rights. If you don't like it, think it's irrelevant in the 21st century, get the ball rolling on a Constitutional Amendment to repeal it. Until then.....

No LGBT organization or publication uses that term any more.

Not all gay and lesbian people are engaging in sex acts. I understand now that marriage equality is legal in all 50 states there is a lot less sex going on ... just like heterosexuals (another medical term).

Just after WW2 gay and lesbian organizations adopted the word "Homophile" to de-emphasize the "sex" part and to call attention to love. That word stuck for only a few years. Everything now is GAY GAY GAY and LESBIAN and BI and TRANS.
So how does using the word homosexual mean you are anti-homosexual? If you use the word heterosexual are you demeaning straight people?

I know that saying "that is so gay" is now another code word to prove the user is a gay hater, so apparently is using the term homosexual. Hard to keep up with the Orwellian dictionary being added to on a nearly daily basis!

The State GOP platform fighting has already begun.

In Indiana the GOP Platform now reads

Heterosexual marriage is "the foundation of socitety".

See: http://www.newsandtribune.com/news/d...6db32ea96.html

The article mentions the most hated man in gay circles James Bopp Jr. He is the lawyer who accepted money for years from Elizabeth to poison America against LGBT.

Likely her money is again behind the scenes forcing the GOP to keep the most radical position against gay-marriage.

You do know who Elizabeth is don't you?

Such distinction makes no difference whatsoever under constitutional law.

Let's also not forget that individual gun rights weren't recognized by the SCOTUS until 2008 in Heller (followed by McDonald in 2010, extending such rights to the states).

The establishment of the Republican party doesn't have a platform or belief system.. they gave that up for special interests and lobbyists.. the money is lining their pockets and they have been in too long to care about anyone or anything but themselves ... the corruption is well hidden but if Trump gets in , he will clean it up.
