Trump's mistake was engaging this family at all. He should have referred to them as the prop they are and then focused fire on Hillary. He get's too distracted by all the political sideshows.
He actually said: "Donald J. Trump is calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country's representatives can figure out what is going on,".
He held pretty strong to that until he eventually had to back-pedal. It's quite different than "put immigration on hold". His statement implied that he would not let Muslims serving in our military come back to see their family, which is VERY relevant to this discussion.
If you prefer, we could talk about the ramifications to the economy. Realize that every oil major (and just about any industry) employs Muslims and does business with Muslims. If you threaten all the US Oil companies from allowing their employees reentry from international travel, based on their religion, what would that do to the economy? Or prevent them from having meetings with Muslim customers and partners, will that help the economy?
He never said indefinitely, but the part that you changed is what is scary. "COMPLETE SHUTDOWN" is what he said. Please stick to the truth.
Mr Kahn did have the backbone to speak the truth, and Trump was offended by it. It is quite telling that you think showing respect for the families of the fallen is nothing but PC.
It's mind-boggling to see how the you can misconstrue an incident and make it something it wasn't.

And let's not forget the greater point of Mr. Khan's speech: Trump's broad brush painting of all Muslim-Americans as terrorists and people to fear.
He did not broad brush, but you are choosing to perpetuate the misconception. It is known by any man with working brain cell that he did not mean that. How many times does he have to say that to get through to the liberal brain cells who choose, selectively, what they want to hear and ignore the rest.

Where did Trump say all Muslims are bad?

Who better to deliver that message than the parents of a Muslim-America war hero? Of course, it's political! Trump is political, you're political, I'm political. Everyone has a political agenda including the Pope. That doesn't make Mr. Khan wrong for entering the public arena for a cause he believes in.
Does Trump really "continually" degrade and paint people as if they are all terrorists? Or is that just your interpretation? I have never heard him say that, nor have I seen him try to spread anti-Muslim hatred.
He's never said that all muslims are suspect. What he has said is that some could be and we have to have a good way of identifying them before they do damage. He is speaking about reality, and is echoing what officials in our agencies have said. BTW, "than to help stop terrorism, Trump is helping ISIS" is right out of the Clinton handbook.
Liberals should LISTEN with both ears and at least try to be objective in evaluating what they hear, whether they like the speaker or not. That's called critical thinking.

How exactly is suggesting the wife isn't allowes to speak not a slam against the family? And not disrespecting then?
In a culture where women are not considered equals, that could actually be taken as a compliment. "See how obedient my wife is? She is a good obedient wife who knows her place. Thank you for the compliment. I am very pleased with her."
He just didnt say she didn't speak, he speculated she wasn't allowed to speak...
Exactly. After a friend of mine converted to being a muslim, she has cut all ties with everyone. You ask her a question, she does not respond etc.
