Donald Trump's slump in the polls is not a major cause for concern, the Republican nominee's campaign chairman Paul Manafort suggested Thursday.

The "drop in poll numbers" was "expected" after the Democratic National Convention, Manafort told "CBS This Morning."

......

"It depends on which poll you look at. We feel like in another week or so, the polls are going to even out," Manafort said. "We always thought we had a bounce and knew the Democrats would have a bounce. And now you see a situation in what looks like an uneven field but in two weeks we think that’s gonna even out if we are out there on our message, which we will be.

They expected this.
There are things going on that we're not seeing.
Blah blah blah.

Spin Doctor Manafort.

That actually makes sense. This week would be her bump. I think it will last 2 weeks as the full impact of Trump's gaffes this week begin to reflect in the polls. After that it should start to tighten again if Trump can cut the shenanigans.

I still think she'll end up winning but it will be much closer than it is now.

RCP average has Trump down 4.3% in a 4-way race. They probably expected to be down at least 3-4 after the DNC (unless the dems just totally flopped). The Khan issue may have cost them an extra 1-2%.

They are in total denial that the drop in the polls has anything to do with Trump's mouth and his unforced errors.

You've got to think there's not much that's going to surprise Manafort when it comes to elections/poll numbers.
