......would vote for Gary Johnson, he could actually win this election.

I for one, have been thinking that I'm forced to support Hillary, because a President Trump would be an absolute disaster. I know many Trump supporters feel the same way about Clinton. But I've been taking a close look at Johnson-Weld lately, and what I see is:

They want smaller government with lower taxes and a balanced budget (good for conservatives)
They support immigration, same-sex marriage and legal marijuana (good for liberals)
They support a strong defense, but not entanglement in other countries (good for isolationists)
They support free trade (good for internationalists)
They both have experience as successful governors (good for pro-establishment types)
They represent a break from the old 2-party system (good for anti-establishment types)

So not perfect, but something for everyone and, best of all, NO SCANDALS. No health concerns either (Johnson runs marathons and has climbed Mt Everest).

I really think that if Johnson were allowed into the debates, the exposure could propel him to a challenging position. This year, there's a lot of people wishing for a different choice. Why not Libertarian Gary Johnson?

Smaller government? Balanced budget? Are we talking about the same Gary Johnson?

Quote:
In 1995 the CPI index stood at 150.3. In 2003 when Johnson left office it stood at 181.7. That's a 20.9% increase over the same eight years.
In other words Gary Johnson increased spending in New Mexico at approximately 240% the rate of inflation -- or about double and a half as fast as prices rose.

Then there's the claim of a "balanced budget". That's a nice claim. Unfortunately it was achieved by lying, just as it has been in the other states, because the amount of debt the State Government had outstanding nearly doubled during those very same years.

He's in favor of TPP and big spending. I'd rather vote for Jill Stein.

who's in favor of a bigger bureaucracy and higher taxes to pay for it ...

and who, like Bernard Sanders, is ready to trumpet the misconception that there's a huge pile of "stolen" wealth in a vault somewhere, that can be "redistributed" to pay for it. (Never mind that an ever-increasing proportion of the national wealth is held by institutions -- run by Establishment "liberals" and "progressives". They have their own plans for that money -- so the burden will "trickle down" upon the young working couples still trying to make ends meet honestly).

It's time to grow up and to understand how a post-industrial economy actually functions; but I guarantee you that neither of the two major parties wants us to recognize this, and that the Trumpsters, like the unreconstructed Democrats who have been preaching envy and class warfare since the rise of the New Deal, have no better conception of the hard facts.

Johnson hasn't proven to be a stout libertarian at all, but I would still vote for him over the current terrible choices if it meant the party could get a foothold in our government.

He's most apt to get along with both sides of the ailes.

I've read so many arguments against him, and still nothing as scary as Trump or Clinton. I actually agree with some of what he says (not all) and can at least be comfortable that he seems pretty honest (as far as politicians go) and isn't some psychopathic, self important, sociopath like the other two.

I would actually like to see the election go undecided in November, wth no one reaching 270.
The House would then make the decision and at that point I would like to see Johnson get the nod.

At LEAST The House and The Senate (Senate chooses the VP) would quit their partisan carrying on and members would feel free to cross the aisle. And that's the biggest thing; legislators would no longer view the president as the leader of "their" party.

BEST OF ALL, we would have someone in The White House that is worth imitating.
