It is neither corrupt or inept. without it most states would have no representation. If you want fairness, do away with absentee ballots except in unusual situations, do away with early voting and change primary voting altogether. Add to this: voter ID; no more illegals and dead people voting. What would you say to that?

Interesting. ANd how have you come to determine this? How exactly do you determine that I am not worthy of trust? Simply because of my social positions? I honestly don't expect an honest answer to these questions, but I would welcome one. Of course, most know that trust can only be established after getting to know someone, which means throwing labels like "liberal" or "conservative" out the window, and actually starting a conversation. Those that are so lost in their Hannity/Maddow tub thumping that they can't see beyond it have lost their humanity to partisanship, which is sad, and heartbreaking.

Jill Stein: "They election was rigged!!"

Me: Oh. My. God. Becky.

Ok, first off this is...I don't know. Is this par for the course? I mean this election's already been crazier than a Jerry Springer free for all. So is this sort of keeping with what's been going on for the past...two years? I don't know, I say we do the whole thing over. What with all of the horrible things going on in the world, we all need all the free entertainment we can get. I mean, we've already turned the Presidential election process into a three ring fricken circus, why the hell not?

But, I suppose after this year, Republicans might be scared to have the voice of the people decide an election and maybe it won't go forward. We'll see. Clinton winning by a few million votes and losing because of less than 100,000 in a couple states makes a pretty strong argument for fairness and change.
Clinton didn't "win" anything. If - huge if - we were to do away with the Electoral College and go to a popular vote, a candidate would have to secure a majority of votes to win. Clinton is currently at 48.1%, and would need 50% plus one vote for a majority.

So if we went to a popular vote and had a situation like this where neither candidate had a majority what do you think we should do to determine a winner? Send it to the house as we do if no candidate has a majority of electoral votes, runoff election between the two top vote-getters, or something else?

Excellent post. I'm conservative who got disgusted with the GOP and went independent. I have quite a few liberal friends. Yes the ideology is different but they are good people. They were not happy with this election but our positions were switched in the last two elections. I trust them and we've had some good discussions before and after the election. I've not had one attack me for my Trump vote (it was more voting against Hillary than voting for Trump). I think we've learned things from each other and it's always been civil.

Admittedly I've been harsh in some posts here but that's because I don't get the flat out refusal to accept the election results. I was prepared for a Hillary win and wouldn't have cried, thrown a fit or otherwise had a meltdown if that happened. After a recount is done, what next? Will there be suicides when Trump is certified the winner?

There are idiots on both sides of the issues. Too bad more people don't think like you.

The crazy thing is, I don't think Jill Stein believes the recount will have any outcome on the election at all. It's like the OCD accountant turning every file cabinet in the office upside-down because he needs to know if the $5 spent at Wal Mart last spring was for office supplies or repair and maintenance items.
