It is a step down because it is comparing a run for president to a run for mayor. It isn't a bad step down, it just is from what she was just running for.
NY can have her, perfect match as far as I'm concerned.
Um. Nope.
New York City, for the sake of itself, the state of NY, the Northeast region, and the whole country, needs a pragmatist.
Whether the next mayor is a Democrat or Republican, Left or Right, the last thing that city needs is an ideologue.
NYC is, by nature of its size and scope, a house of cards. Its failure, whether a total collapse or developing into some sort of ultra-rich/welfare-class dichotomous dystopia, would have an influence nationwide. Love it or hate it, a healthy NYC is good for the country.
As the model for urbanization in our increasingly urban society we can only hope for the best.
Google it, there are plenty of sources, maybe one would be to your liking.
I see plenty of sources that say she is BEING URGED to run. Or that she COULD or SHOULD CONSIDER running.
I see no one citing any quote from Clinton or someone who could be reasonably expected to know what she's thinking.
So for now, I think this is just rumor-mongering.
But again - so what if she runs for NYC mayor? It's her right as an american citizen to throw her hat in the ring for any office that she is qualified for if she chooses - just as it is your right to do the same
Question, do people not comprehend what they read? Says she has been "urged" (whatever) to run for mayor, hence not her idea, someone else's idea. I very much doubt that someone who was the Democratic nominee for POTUS, Secretary of State, and a US Senator is looking for a mayoral position.
Mayor of NYC is a pretty big deal. If you can't be president, mayor of NYC is the next best thing.

In terms of powerful American positions? I don't think NYC mayor is #2. Supreme Court Justice would be up there, VP, attorney general, head of the CIA, defense secretary. Governor of California, ....
My theory on all this commotion is that NY State Governor Cuomo is trying to kill two birds with one stone by getting his DNC backers to work to (1) get rid of DeBlasio whom he deeply hates and (2) make sure Clinton doesn't challenge him on a third term as governor so he can position himself to make a run for the White House in 2020.
Unfortunately for Cuomo, he's just as (ir)relevant as George Pataki and the same obscurity awaits him

Of course there are many positions that would be rated as high as or higher than the mayor of NYC. I am assuming the poster who said it was the second highest is from NYC or certainly the east coast.
As for Hillary running, I am guessing she is about to shut the door on politics or she should anyway.
