For others the problem is that he has little experience and speaks in platitudes and feel good, hypnotic, preacher-like phrases.

For me, it's both, but I was particularly surprised by what he said in Beaumont the other day. The gist of what I'm referring to is a riff he went on and on with about parental responsibility.

Boiled down it was: feed your kids, turn the tv off and actually do some basic parenting. After uttering one of these brilliant gems the crowd would gasp and cheer as if he had just shared the cure for cancer.

The reaction of his "followers" is starting to creep more and more of us out. Obamaniacs seem to be oblivious to the content of what comes out of his mouth (or nose, as when the throngs clapped and cheered when he blew it at a speach a few weeks ago). As long as it comes out of "His" mouth. This time they were in awe of his common sense child rearing points. Feed your children breakfast, have them do their homework, don't let them watch tv 8 hours per night.

He forgot to mention to not beat your kids, teach them how to properly wipe their butts and to come in from the rain when there is lightning present. Guess he's saving that for another day.

Didn't Bill Cosby get throttled by some of these same Obama-lovers for saying pretty much the same thing?

Well, if I am seeing this wrong, pls let me know.

I am waiting for the dinosaur media to start actually reporting on his short commings. Hasn't happened yet.
Why do you think he stated those things, to feed children breakfast, help them with homework and not allow them to watch tv all night? Because in today's society that is what is lacking, children are playing xbox and tv all night, parents are not participating in their kid's school, breakfast, if anything is a pop tart. He stated exactly what Americans need to hear.

I suspect if Rush Limbaugh or whatever lunatic you suscribe to said it, you would be cheering to

I can assure you that I'm not indignant. You sound a bit like that or maybe slightly cranky. If you think I'm pompous, that is your opinion and you are welcome to it!

The culture IS deteriorating. Look at New Orleans, now or before Katrina. A cess pool of uneducated thugs, single mothers, addicts (along with some real good people and great restaurants). How about Detroit? Large parts of Los Angeles county?

Check out most inner cities. Nice, huh? You think that the culture shows a bit of deterioration in these places?

What about a lot of small towns in the mid-west/south west with meth addiction rampant. How's the culture there?

In San Francisco they have parades with grown, naked men walking around with nothing but a chain up their b*tt. Yes, it's funny, but if you don't see that as part of a deterioration of our culture...well, perhaps you don't. Perhaps you see this as elevating our culture.

I'm not trying to force my beliefs on anybody. I do not practice any religion. I do think that human life is very important and dignity is important and both are becoming less and less valued each day in this country.

I like debate to get these ideas out in the open. Then people make up their minds.

This man is going to cause Civil Rights War II
Please, elaborate as to why you feel that the small minority of the radical right wing Evangelicals should be allowed to continue attempting to legislate discrimination against Gays and how that affects the future of our Country...

See, from my standpoint, I couldn't care less if people feel that it is "wrong" or not. You're entitled to your opinion, but, Gay equality and civil liberties FAR OUTWEIGH your rights to legislate based on your discriminatory opinions. The continued discrimination of any group of people in a society merely demonstrates how immoral a society is and not the other way around.

I can only assume the OP has never been to a political rally or townhall before. It's a political rally, get it? It will ALWAYS boil down to simple, basic, least-common-denominator things. It has to; look at where our society has gone. Add any real complexity to it, and you've lost the audience. If you want specifics, there is the website.

What does Hillary's message about kids boil down to in her speeches? I'm guessing it has just as little substance. Maybe less cheering, just because the audiences are smaller... or it could just be her lack of charisma.

Sounds like he was taking some words and sentences from Bill Cosby. No surprise.

If you think that Mr. O is shining a bright light on something new and different when lecturing about the importance of feeding a child breakfast...well we know you will vote for him. Good for you, but you should look at the mindless adoration we are seeing from a lot of the Obama supporters if you are looking for "nutbags".

This is an interesting comment. I'm curious, does this statement take into account the actual make-up of the majority (and there are "millions") of Obama's supporters? The reason I ask is that the press has often reported his great appeal to higher educated voters, at least initially, as well as his ability over time to convince many voters after a more personal interaction that he speaks to their needs. It confuses me that one would consider the results of such action mindless.

As to his appeal to higher educated voters....Yes, I imagine a lot of people that went to left leaning universities in this country (especially those that took a lot of "studies" courses, i.e. women's studies, african american studies) are supporting him...mindlessly.

I'd guess most of the "womens studies" majors would be supporting Clinton...

However, I'm fascinated that Hillary supporters consider her being more right-leaning is a good thing. I guess Kerry and Gore were too far to the left for them, too? That explains why so many are willing to vote in McCain when Hillary loses the primary.

There is a lot of poisonous feelings on the Hillary side... hopefully it won't be like that too long. In the meantime, I guess I'm the mindless Obama supporter and Floridabound09 is the brilliant one who can see through his trickery!
