I am not talking about smarts; I am talking about learning to think in a way that is principally taught in college. It's pretty easy to tell here who has learned this in the way they back up their statements and in the way it is articulated. Now, some people have gone to college and it hasn't done them a damn bit of good, but I'm not talking about them.

"""Now, some people have gone to college and it hasn't done them a damn bit of good, but I'm not talking about them""

Yes, but in this discussion you have to talk about them because it blows your theory out of the water.

I will give as an example my mother who was near 90 when she died recently. She was a HIGH SCHOOL drop out(had to support her family). She was extremely literate, read extensively, had definite critical thinking skills, was a wonderful writer, could SPELL(how many graduates can do THAT !), never had a problem presenting the facts of a situation.
She was not computer literate but did know what a phone, a library, books, newspapers, magazines, and intelligent friends were good for.

You can't determine here who is college educated and who isn't....no matter what they claim

I could back up a lot of my posts with googled "facts" but :

A) most people don't want their mind changed.

B) Sometimes I don't feel like it, I have nothing to prove and don't care if someone believes me or not.

C) Total apathy about what some think in here, it's NOT a life or death matter and is usually just funny.

Now, am I "college educated" or not?

Exactly, which is why I wouldn't bother to answer your question.

I think a lot of 9 - 5 working class folks that have personal difficulties (money being the main one) are attracted to him because he is promising to lighten their load. So, (imho) their common sense is being overcome by emotionalism and greed. You don't have to be rich to be greedy. It's a common fault with humans in every station of life.

He is a talented orator. But unlike say, MLK who was motivating people to join a cause for a specific righteous and high minded purpose, Obama is motivating people to vote to get him into office to do a lot of nebulous feel good things, that, in my opinion are unreasonable. I, personally don't feel that universal healthcare is righteous and if it does happen the research and development in that field, which is fantastic in this country, is going to grind to a slow pace and the care itself will suffer. The $$$ for college and "everyone gets to go to college"...nope, that doesn't impress me as I don't think college is a right and not everyone is capable. (And before anyone says that community service to pay back....how on earth do you monitor that? Another huge bureaucrocy (sp?)?) Well...I could go on and on, but you get my drift.

I imagine his feet will be put to the fire and more specifics will have to come out as soon as Hillary gives up. With more concrete info on his plans, I think some of his "followers" may get in touch with their inner "common sense" again.

I believe it would be a pre-requisite before enrollment, whereby the educational institution would state that this is a federal requirement and the student would have to document what he/she did with corresponding confirmation from those in charge of the specific community service.

I imagine his feet will be put to the fire and more specifics will have to come out as soon as Hillary gives up

He has done that so well already on the debates. His answers have been more innovative and specific than hers. So no problem there. She thinks in the same old way so never can come up with new concepts.

The problem for some of us is that Mr. O is simply too much of a leftist/socialist so we would never vote for him.

For others the problem is that he has little experience and speaks in platitudes and feel good, hypnotic, preacher-like phrases.

For me, it's both, but I was particularly surprised by what he said in Beaumont the other day. The gist of what I'm referring to is a riff he went on and on with about parental responsibility.

Boiled down it was: feed your kids, turn the tv off and actually do some basic parenting. After uttering one of these brilliant gems the crowd would gasp and cheer as if he had just shared the cure for cancer.

The reaction of his "followers" is starting to creep more and more of us out. Obamaniacs seem to be oblivious to the content of what comes out of his mouth (or nose, as when the throngs clapped and cheered when he blew it at a speach a few weeks ago). As long as it comes out of "His" mouth. This time they were in awe of his common sense child rearing points. Feed your children breakfast, have them do their homework, don't let them watch tv 8 hours per night.

He forgot to mention to not beat your kids, teach them how to properly wipe their butts and to come in from the rain when there is lightning present. Guess he's saving that for another day.

Didn't Bill Cosby get throttled by some of these same Obama-lovers for saying pretty much the same thing?

Well, if I am seeing this wrong, pls let me know.

I am waiting for the dinosaur media to start actually reporting on his short commings. Hasn't happened yet.
You might find this interesting...
