modern day voting is a much simpler matter. To legaly vote in a presidential election today, you must be 18 years old, a United States citizen and not a convicted felon.Makes no sense for an illegal to open up the potential of his illegality by illegally voting, its been my observation that illegals once in the country try to keep a low profile and wouldnt expose themselves to being an illegal by voting.
How can we possibly know if non-citizens or american citizens prohibited from voting are illegally voting in federal elections if states like California and others refuse to allow an audit of their voter rolls? Just repeatedly claiming illegals are voting or they aren't voting doesn't make the statement true without proof.
The left says 0, the right says at least 5,000,000. While it's impossible to definitively pinpoint the real number, it's clearly [somewhere] in between what those screeching on either side of the political aisle claim. Is it enough to change the outcome of elections at the national level? Probably not in the majority of cases. Locally may be a different story, at least in select instances where illegals have been granted the right to vote under limited circumstances. Does it happen at all? Of course it does. It's not just non-citizens, and it certainly isn't just folks who align with the Democrat party who commit fraud of any type, either. Finally, as we all know, voter fraud isn't the only type of fraud committed by citizens and non-citizens alike.

In what "selected instances" have "illegals" been granted the right to vote? Please cite specific elections and examples. Methinks this is RW BS! I live in a district that has no elected representative (NC-9) where the "real" problem was caused by illegally filled-out, mail-in ballots.

They've also been allowed to vote in local elections in Takoma Park since 1992. Non-citizens voting in non-Federal elections is perfectly legal by the way, so long as respective State and/or Local laws permit such.
And yes there are tons of problems that do not include non-citizens, a fact to which I've already stipulated.

Not only do illegals not vote for fear of outing themselves and ruining their lives, their legal children tend to undervote for the same reason. They are taught to not make waves and bring attention onto themselves. They’re afraid of potential deportment of their family. A large share of the legal children just don’t vote and it’s highly probably that they’re the ones whose family would have the most to lose in an immigration crackdown.
IMO that makes a lot more sense and is far more probable than the idea of massive voting by illegals.
Then the legislature should work to make it easier for people in good standing to become legal citizens and adjust the legal immigration amount. This is a legislature issue, not an issue for illegal immigration. I suspect the reason why Congress, regardless of political party, hasn’t addressed the issues is many of them are lawyers. Law firms make money off this and the law industry has strong influence in Congress.
OMG. finally someone with some common sense that gets it! Thank you. You're a breath of fresh air vs dealing with the emotional thinking low information crowd. Clap clap clap and a rep for you. It's always about the money and when you add corruption into the mix? It's a recipe for disaster.
Illegal aliens can't vote. It's sad that this needs to be said, but it appears there are a large number of ignorant people who simply cannot or refuse to believe this truth, or are just willfully ignorant. Which category do you fall into?
Even more ignorant is thinking that someone who came here illegally in the 70s and 80s and had kids that will never vote. Chain illegal immigration. Kids legal, kids vote.
