+1. Righties can't argue against Democratic Socialism on its merits so they have to lie, distort and conflate it with communism, Stalin, etc.
"Socialism" is popular with the under-40 demographic and is a key reason why Bernie Sanders is the current front-runner; that, and he's viewed as genuine, consistent, and has never wavered from his goal of making life better for the working poor and middle class.
It seems like most of the under-40 demographic that idolize Bernie are idealistic middle class, not working poor. I am not convinced that the middle class will do any better under Bernie than it is now, even though his heart may be in the right place.
I am a Klobuchar supporter, but I could get behind Elizabeth Warren, if necessary, to defeat Trump, keeping all the moderate Senators in place (on both sides).
There is zero "hard left" about Bernie. The guy is firmly planted in social democratic traditions and his policies would be embraced by most conservative parties in the rest of the developed world. He's a FDR-New Deal democrat. FDR was the most popular president in the last 100 years. If you seriously believe higher SS benefits, getting big money out of politics, strengthening labor unions and Medicare-for-all is "hard left", then you're way to the right of the mainstream. That's why Bernie is the most popular senator in the country, and he regularly gets lots of support among republicans in Vermont. They know who he is better than anyone.
If a 52% tax is going to be applied on income above 29k, that means all income under 29k does NOT pay that tax. So in your scenario of a 31k income, that means only 2k would be taxable income, and the tax would therefore be around 1k.

52% OVER 10,000,000 per year.
4% over 29000 is the tax to pay for M4A. (plus a 7.5% tax from employers in business making over 2,000,000 a year or 75% of what the employer is currently kicking in-whichever is more).

Thanks for the info, I knew his example was wrong/misperceived but I was using his numbers for the other point.
