I have to admit that when I first read that comment, I started to fondly reflect on how many times I've had my tongue about burnt off in African restaurants (usually Ethiopian).

Frankly, I've never seen a black person, either here or in Florida, who appreciated exceptionally hot peppers. For some reason, they are really turned off once it get's beyond "mild." Is there a reason for this?
I don't know about the black people you hang out with but one of my business acquaintances when I was living in CA would go out to lunch with me and the hotter the better, Mexican, Asian, Indian. If it did not make him sweat it was not hot enough. The is this on Asian place with a chili-sauce. It would burn your innards for weeks.

I find him/her to be one of the milder ones. Merely idiotic, as opposed to offensive. Honestly, does s/he sit around observing the eating habits of African-Americans in Los Angeles? Maybe it's because we're in south Texas, but jalapeños and salsa are staples here. And I've attended many a chili cookoff down here. They're strong fundraisers at churches down here - black, white, Hispanic, Catholic, Baptist, Klingon...come winter, we Texans can't live without our chili.

Am I on the right thread? I went away from my computer and find I have somehow migrated from the 2008 election to the Julia Child section of the Food Channel website.

Yo, hello there folks, I was wondering if we can have a single thread in elections that doesn't end up into a racial discussion or go from economic policies between Obama and McCain to epicurean pleasures? I know it is easy to get off topic but, I thought I would just leave a reminder.

The topic is...

Why would a Hillary fan vote McCain?

Thanks, carry on.

Well, since you did the "feast for black folks" could you do a similar one for Koreans, Armenians, Chinese, Tawanese, Vietnamese, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese. Doing a "black people" feast only is discriminitory so you need to put on feasts for the rest.

McCains Tax credits is funny...I know more than a few people who will find a way to spend the money on something else. But hey, he never said he was good at this stuff anyway.
Honestly, if being insured isn't mandatory, then they needn't bother because nothing would change. You'd have people choosing not to be insured even if it was very affordable and those same people would show up uninsured in the ER expecting care. Same what we have now. At first, it might not be as massive a problem as we have now, but as more and more people chose not to participate because "everyone else is opting out," it would grow to unmanageable proportions.

If you're going to do that, you might as well do the tax credit thing. The people who would sign on if the subsidies made health insurance affordable are likely the same people who would use the tax credits to get insurance because these are the people who desperately WANT insurance and could get it with help.

Hillary's plan now is NOT the same as what she was trying to get 14 years ago. Back then, she was pushing for a single-payer system. She learned the hard way that this country wasn't ready for that so she worked on this current plan which uses private insurance with help in buying it.

Thanks for the rep. I don't care who is in the White House, having a rubber stamp Congress is NOT healthy.

As the starter of this thread, you are right, we need to get back on topic. I have seen it come off topic a few pages ago and I brought it back again but this last one got me Sorry about that.

I did no such. You brought up your experiences with blacks and eating, and I brought up mine. It just so happens that my experiences, along with the experiences of others, make your question look as stupid as it is. So think very carefully before you ask another.
