Well that was fairly obvious. No need for her to admit it.

Wisconsin could be following Missouri, Iowa and Ohio towards becoming a solid red state. Republicans have an immovable lock on the state legislature and outside of Madison, Milwaukee and university towns, Democrats are increasingly perceived as out of touch crime apologists and elitists. The state is probably the most likely of the 25 that voted for Biden in 2020 to flip to red in 2024, given it is less dominated by large metro areas than most of the other swing states.

Michels did horribly in a relative since, in the Milwaukee outer suburbs. He got 55% in Ozaukee and 60% in Waukesha County. Walker in 2018 got 63% and 66% respectively. Johnson across the board got amount 2% more votes than Michels. Republicans were able to offset the lost with increased margins in rural areas. Evers saw his greatest growth in Dane and Waukesha counties.

There are a lot of postings/threads regarding polls/wishful thinking etc. that do not age well.

Have you notice how some of the some right wing posters here have disappeared ? I wonder if some of them were just paid to post here by some PAC.

Waukesha is significant bc it is generally a Republican stronghold. In my view, the voters knew we couldn't let the GOP run amok, since our gerrymandered legislature is permanently under GOP control, with its boot on the neck of this state. True minority rule, consistently ignoring the wishes of the majority. They've done a great job of defanging and refusing to recognize the twice-elected Dem Gov, won't even seat his appointees. The Republicans in this state are autocratic powermongers.

On the US Senate, I knew the minute Barnes was nominated Johnson would keep his seat. Overcoming race in the rural areas was hurdle enough, on top of which Barnes had extra baggage. I'm surprised he did as well as he did. A different candidate would have defeated Johnson.

We have the same issue with Ted Cruz here in Texas. No one really likes him but the Democrats keep putting up weak candidates. Beto could have actually beat him if he would have pivoted to the middle after the primary. Instead he went Beto and lost. He never had a chance against Governor Abbott.

What are you talking about? Ron Johnson won a third Srnate term, Van Orden flipped WI-3 from blue to red, and the GOP kept large majorities in the state assembly and Senate. Sure it’s annoying that Evers eked out a victory, but Wisconsin certainly went Republican.

The only reason Republicans have a large majority in the state legislature is because of gerrymandering. A fair map would bring the majority down. They fought the fair map not because they were in danger of losing the majority but because it would certainly block any chance for a super majority.

Republicans need to decide do they want to retain the suburban vote or grow the rural vote in the state. Michels was not the primary winner for southeast Wisconsin Republicans. Kleefisch received more votes. The former is a better strategy than the latter. The demographics of Milwaukee outer suburbs are getting more similar to their Milwaukee county suburban cousins. If Republicans lose the suburbs, they are sunk for statewide elections. Each election they lose margin, so far rural areas have made up the difference but for how long.
