Most of the politicians that go to disasters do one of two things- they either "fly over" and then meet the local officials at a nice country club for the press OR they wait for several days or even weeks to pass and they go there and make a speech and fly off into the sunset.
Not many of them would spend an entire day with gloves and a shovel actually breaking a sweat to help. And then after all that give a nice cash donation towards the relief efforts.
But Obama is not like most. He is not afraid of hard work. He doesn't mind sweating or getting dirty.

I guess he is making up for not doing a single day of hard work in his entire life.

I want him, while he is in the White House (if he makes it) to do as little work as possible (if you get my drift).

If he's not afraid of getting dirty, why is he wearing gloves? He looks as prissy here as he was riding his bicycle.

Are you saying that it is not him with the gloves and the shovel? It doesn't matter that some people were watching him work does it?

Campbell Brown on CNN just reported that Obama was there for one hour and filled 15 sandbags. Hardly a day's work

So if I posted links to pictures of President Bush handing out ice, putting it in trunks of cars, in the boiling heat after one of our hurricanes a couple of years ago, would you be as impressed?

He did that. It was all over the local news. Didn't make it to the network news? Gee, why am I not surprised?

These are campaign photo ops, people ... that's all they are. Don't be taken in by this nonsense. You deserve better ... we all do.
