That about sums up the comments I read here which are thinly disguised racism. The sad part is that it is evident to everyone but those espousing their bigotry.
Is there any chance this stupidity can stop? It's really getting old and very, very tired.
Let's pretend for a moment that Barack and Michelle Obama are White. And then read the threads that are critisms of Obama and see if you can still call them "racist" at the outset. That's not to say no one here is ever guilty of making a racist remark, but all too often the accusation comes before the racism.
It's as if you're goading people, daring them ... and there will always be someone who will bite.
There is such a thing a racism in this country ... no question. But right now Mr. Obama is running for President and he is going to be criticized. It does not mean that the criticism is being racist. I what is being said could be said about any individual, no matter what their race, then it's not a racist comment.
You cannot keep pulling this every darned time someone says something you don't like about your candidate.
Now get over it and find a more substantive argument.
Could not have said it better. She is truly a mean-spirited, bitter, control freak, very suitable as the wife of a political hack. No amount of new clothes or "retraining" is going to change that. Merely an attempt to dupe the dupe-able.

Hmmm just don't see the racism or the bigotry either! Grasping I think.....
You've been harping on the word for a week. I think you know very well what he means.
If you'd rather people not respond to your posts in a PUBLIC forum, take it to PM. That's what I suggest.
Haven't been harping on anything - he keeps using it; I just wanted to know his definition. I don't know very well what he means - if I did I wouldn't have asked him. I kinda thought the whole point of this forum was too converse; if you just want to make statements and not have people ask you questions regarding them, then perhaps you should talk to yourself.
I didn't say that you can't respond but I'd rather you not respond in such a little snippy manner; had you really wanted to participate in the conversation you would have answered the question If my harping bother's you, the ignore option is only a click away. That's what I suggest.
Anyways, back to the topic at hand here; I don't think Michelle saying "mom-in-chief" was meant to say "because I know we're going to win" but even if she did, so what? I’ve heard dozens of people use the assumptive “when I win†or “after I win†in competition. Why is so wrong in this case?
No, I asked you to define it because you keep saying it. If you can't provide a meaning for it, that justifies you using it then perhaps you should try another word.
I can understand everyone didn't like the lyrics of the song - but what makes the writer a thug? Because he offended people? I'm sure there are other genres of art that offend people; does that mean the artist is a thug?
I think some people are overusing the word "thug" just as some are overusing the word "racist"; at this point in the game the word has no contextual value; it's just a word to throw in the air when you have no other way of getting your ideas across.
I think he means hoodlum? Or maybe just young black person?

McMolly, I'm an independant libertarian. I have never been a registered democrat, in my life. Ever. And if you take the time to read my comments, which you can do a search for, you will notice that I do not call out racism, except when posts are RACIST. Have a nice day!

well see in my mind a thug and a hoodlum are different things. To me, Ray Charles was a thug; the little kids in my neighborhood who throw rocks at the closed Winn Dixie up the street are hoodlums. My little brother is a young black person. I guess it all depends on the definition.
Vocabulary lesson aside; I still don't think mom-in-chief is that big of a deal. Unless we’re saying that making positive assumptive comments is a bad thing. If that's the case we better let all those football teams know they better start saying "we might go all the way"
