Oh, puleeze! In this day in age there is no shortage of information that is just a mouse click away. There is no excuse for not being able to make an informed opinion or for being unaware of the major issues that affect our lives and the lives of others.

American's are stupid, and proud of it! What other planet on the universe would denigrate the national leaders for being "egg heads" or "elitist". A people who want leaders who are "just like you and I!" Personally I'll be damned if I want some one to lead the country was just as smart as me, and I graduated from one of those elite Ivy League institutions!

If you are dumb and uniformed or worse ill-informed, you only have yourself to blame. If you can't pick out Iraq on a map, if you can't tell the difference between a Shiite and a Sunni yet can ramble on about what should or shouldn't be done in the middle east, then you need to declare yourself a resident retard and disqualify yourself from being able to vote.

We have no one to blame but our selves.

What do you do when an elected official won't represent? Here's an example. Our elderly relative was bilked out of hundreds of thousands of dollars while her bank admits to knowing and profiting considerably (NSF fees, CD penalties). No one in the state's legislature that we've contacted will help us change the law to protect the elderly. Why? Our best guess: no one in the legislature is willing to go against the bank system.

It appears likely that our country will go into a Depression, hopefully not, and if we do, we can blame ourselves. I hope we all cry out, "HOW DID THIS HAPPEN"? And when this happens, that each and everyone of us that are reading this, have hard times. It will be like the good old depression days, except for the rich, people are thrown together, on the basis of need and not greed. We will not buy into the commercials on television that we have to have it, so we must buy it now!!
We will start to appreciate what we have and not feel sad what we don't have. It will be my hope, we will learn to mind the store, not just your store but all of OUR store, know what your managers and employees (Senators/House of Reps) are doing in the store we own. You will begin to pay attention to the job they are doing. WE hired them to manage our store and allowed them to steal everything we own to the point we have become bankrupt. Why? Because we were too busy knowing what Brad Pitt/Britney Spears/Tom Cruise were up to. We were too busy watching our favorite sports or television program. The promises our managers told us they would make that would benefit us did not come true but they benefitted themselves. The store we own revenues should have been built up for our retirement but our managers ended up having a better retirement , one for life, a better health care plan, a better vacation plan and they make 4 times the amount of money than you and I. How did this happen? Because we allowed it. Shame on US!!! Now our store is broke. We will start all over. And I hope we fire all of our managers and start anew. Interview them before hiring and let them know what our needs are and expect of them to make our store prosper for the future generations. Obviously, all of our managers failed us.
I hope we will know the name of the Governor of our state, Our house of Representatives, Our Senators. Learn to know their names, spell their names and pro-nounce their names so when we contact them, we sound half way intelligent. Go to C-Span, they can be found on the internet and this will tell you what our managers are doing to build up the store we own. Follow them and the bills they make, like we follow our favorite football game, like our favorite celebrity.
Some of you say that Government is not a business but as of yesterday it sure is. If Walmart minded their stores the way our managers have, it would have been broke before they expanded out of Arkansas.

I don't trust us Americans. WE ARE STUPID> but we don't have to be, just do the right thing and pay attention. Be aware and alert and fire our managers if they don't do as they promised, Afterall, they are not in charge, we are!!!!QUIT BEING SO STUPID!!!
The Daily Mirror had it right in 2004. Welcome to Jesusland. I found it very interesting when Tony Blair was making the rounds of the shows and sure, they asked him about his class at Yale, cool, his relationship with Wonderboy ... ok, fine .. but what struck me as so weird and I think it caught him off guard as well was their fascination with his converting to Catholocism. All these stupid people were trying to tie his new Catholocism to his PM-ship, which, as most of Europe does, he keeps his religious faith PRIVATE AND OUT OF THE PUBLIC SECTOR. I wish America could cop a clue on this subject. It makes us look like complete idiots.

Hold on a second. There are people who don't have a computer to click away, they rely on TV, Radio and the newspaper, heck they don't even have a cell phone.

A friend of mine really believed she can pop corn with her cell phone until I showed her it was a prank.

Judge from what I read on too many of these discussion boards, I don't find that to be an appropriate excuse. Clearly all of these people have access to TV's, radios, newspapers and broadband internet access.

Now, I'm not saying that out of any particular political bias but I'll be damned if I don't read the damned stupidest stuff posted on discussion boards. So what is there excuse?

I agree, there is no excuse.

Sure you or I don't really lose time reading threads like "How hot Palin is" and how "Mr. Dude" feels about his new title.
