The "republicans" want a bailout and threaten disaster if we don't have it. Patriots like Shelby of AL are being quashed by your RINO heroes like McCain who support a bailout.

If you had any sort of conservativism in your body, you wouldn't even post such ridiculous nonsense "the republicans are fighting for you!". Please

A number of economists may be questioning Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson’s plan to rescue the financial markets, but they really don’t like an emerging House Republican alternative.

Mc Cain on the other hand is an absolute economic ignoramus.
McCain is going to end the wars. But it has to be done right. Both candidates economic plans will be out the window with the looming crisis. Nobody will be getting a tax cut.

Good God. You have to win the two wars before you can leave. If you don't, Iran will be even stronger and we will have to go back in and it will be more bloody than before. I think McCain is a good war time president, not Obama.

Here we go again...

You are misinformed.... That bill was sponsored by Phil Graham and pushed thru by a Republican Congress. I blame Clinton for not vetoing it - but it was definitely a Republican bill... Sorry - sometimes the truth hurts - doesn't it?

I know Republican die-hards find it uncomfortable to admit that Dubya has been a terrible failure as a fiscal conservative, small government president. He has single-handedly more than doubled the national debt during his 2 terms in office, and is a main culprit in this financial market meltdown - which many economists have been warning us about for 5 years or more...

Sorry - Bush OWNS this financial meltdown, and the $700 Billion bailout that he and Paulson co-sponsor...

John McCain is in Washington all day today but staying away from Capitol Hill as negotiations on the $700 billion bailout enter a critical phase.
Senior campaign adviser Mark Salter says McCain is busy making calls from his Arlington, Va., campaign headquarters to key members of Congress, but will not make any special trip to Capitol Hill, as he did Thursday when negotiations got under way.
McCain is staying away "because he can effectively do what he needs to do by phone," Salter said, according to a press pool report. "He’s calling members on both sides, talking to people in the administration, helping out as he can.’’

But he had to suspend his campaign to save the day right?

Oh my God. Do you even understand the fiscal implications of these two wars? In the last 8 years, our national debt has almost DOUBLED, never in history has the National Debt grown so rapidly. This country will go bankrupt in a few years if nothing is done about ending these wars.

So good to see at least one other thinking person on here.

I am so tired of the Democrats pointing fingers. They have controlled congress for the past two years and this is the fault of the Republicans? I thought America voted them in to fix things.

It is time for everybody up there to stop throwing mud and do their jobs.

You're right, but at least the Dems aren't trying to portray themselves as "conservatives". With McCain, you're getting defective goods wrapped in lipstick.
