Some people find ways other than desecrating the flag to voice their protest.

Is that what you're saying? Only by burning the flag you can exercise dissent? How many have you burned, I wonder?

Flag-burning is desecration. Free speech does not extend to those who wish to display something that is below contempt for a national symbol.

I didn't say "only". I'm saying that some people burn American flags to protest the government.

My point is Palin said that her son was going to fight for our country so that the protester would have the RIGHT to protest. I'm totally on board with that, and apparently so are you (bravo). There are people who don't agree with that stance. McCain is one of them.
