Interesting... my brother is a plumber.... struggling in NY to support his son on $35K per year with no retirement and no benefits. His boss buys a new truck each year, and he has a brand new house, But he says that he can't afford benefits for his 7 employees... all who work with just 3 paid vacations Xmas, New years and Thanksgiving.

My brother has worked for him for 5 years with only two raises... one was given after he left to work for another employer.... and he was hired back. I wonder if his employer will be upset to find that my brother is voting Obama.

Joe is absolutely right and for the Dem. to say we are now listening to a plumber...well I rather listen to a person who understand what is going on than the Obama fans who have no clue until the end up paying the bill that the small business owner is presenting them since we all know that if busnesses have to pay more, the customer is the one who is paying for it...just basic economy!

Hmmm, if someone told me that I would be incur an "additional, minimal tax" on earnings over 250,000 per year, I would be delighted at the prospect! Joe, will, of course, get "tax breaks" for every job he creates, under Obama's plan, as well as assistance in paying for the health care coverage for his workers. . . poor Joe. . . !

Do you know what that BREAK is? It's $3000.00

Do you know who much it cost to hire some minimum wage slacker? Somehow I doubt you do ...

Obama has the most anti business plan I've ever heard and if he is elected and the jobs start going, who are you going to blame ... Bush?

Taking from those who have more and giving it to those who have less IS socialism. Redistribution of wealth is socialism. "Spreading the wealth around" is socialism. If someone is successful, LET THEM KEEP THE FRUITS OF THEIR LABOR. Of course they should be taxed, like everyone else, but they should be taxed fairly. If you take everything someone makes over a certain point that is not really conducive to them wanting to work harder, now is it? I know I am not going to work harder for nothing.

Joe the Plumber may "only" be a plumber, but he is a small business owner. Some of you seem to be putting him down as if because he's a plumber he's too dumb to understand economics. I'm sure he understands how Obama's economics will affect his business, because he was asking Obama specifically about that. And what did Obama tell him? That he wants to SPREAD THE WEALTH AROUND.

I too own a small business and from what I have read, my taxes under Obama would increase from 37% to 50%. OH HELL NO. I'll shut down my business before I pay 50% taxes.

My fellow CD'ers, this is a classic example of a great dupe job. Good job Karl. But since these people have very short attention spans I think they should have rolled Joe out a little later in the game.

People keep talking about businesses moving out of the country while they're talking about these "small businesses" that are going to get hit with the proposed $250k tax increase. It's not those small businesses that are moving overseas- most small businesses are far too localized, and can't move across town, yet alone across the ocean.

If you want to keep businesses from "sending jobs overseas" you need to focus on an entirely different set of incentives, tax breaks, etc- the tax on "small businesses making $250k/year" isn't the one that should be being discussed in that regard.

You know as well as I do that the consumer will be paying the bill which will be higher if small businesses will be taxed higher...is that what you want?

So the consumer will buy less since they will have less money....

Not sure what to make of this Joe Wurzelbacher guy...
He could have been tracked down and given an offer he couldn't refuse.
