I wish I could share your enthusiasm, but I lived in Missouri for 6 long years. I have also travelled a lot, in and out of the US.

There are still quite a few areas in Missouri that are insanely racist. Seriously, some are worse than some southern states.

I would not be putting Missouri in the Obama bag just yet.

BTW, I am not saying all of Missouri is racist. Just saying there are quite a few diehards over there.

To those from both sides of the spectrum, yes, I think that (unfortunately), there are still people whose thinking processes are affected by race, and whites do not have a monopoly in that regard.
