Amanda Jones, 109, the daughter of a man born into slavery, has lived a life long enough to touch three centuries. And after voting consistently as a Democrat for 70 years, she has voted early for the country's first black presidential nominee.
Daughter of slave votes for Obama (http://www.statesman.com/news/content/news/stories/local/10/27/1027jones.html - broken link)
I wish I could be in Washington if Obama is sworn into office. It would be a monumental moment and something I would LOVE to witness and I would LOVE my daughter to witness as well.
While this is history, why does the media ignore Obama's 1/2 white part?
Well, they had the story about the elderly nun who voted for Obama. She was white, and I'll bet she was the daughter of someone who was a "salary-slave."
As I recall it was the first time she had voted since Eisenhower. Great story, actually--maybe you should look it up.
Wow, I can only imagine the stories she could tell and the things she's experienced in her life. It's great that she's able to witness history in the making.

I also thought of this. Why do they call him black when he is actually biracial? I think it's because race is something you identify yourself as. It's interesting though. I'd like to hear why or if Obama calls himself black.
