The businesses in area of Grant Park are closing early. There are no police leaves. Should be interesting...they have already started setting up the area.

I get the feeling that you couldn't quite cut it in the PD selection process. Just based on your responses to me you're the type who would want to get in. You're from Chicago and wasn't aware of this rally? Thought it was something I made up?

Gee, I grew up in NYC and was never abused, beaten, shaken down by the cops. Then I became a cop eleswhere and retired. So it is possible to be from a major city and neither be a victim or an abuser. In fact, the vast majority fall into this category despite the chagrin of many. Now on TV, well that's a different reality. Real life is actually pretty mundane.

Cops are actually fairly lax here in the city compared to suburban areas.

As for the rally, I changed my mind, too many people. Would rather get together with some friends and hang at a bar thats covering the elections. Much more comfortable and there will beer!

You will find that I have refrained from such attacks, and I find them loathsome from all sides, you, however, I've noticed from reading your posts, revel in them and engage in them whenever possible.

I have never had a problems with the Chicago police. There were a few times where they chased me off as a loitering teenager, and even once caught me drinking underage when I was a teenager (but just made me pour it out while they watched, gave me a lecture, called me a few choice names, and sent me on my way), but beyond that, my dealings with them have been minimal, and the few times I have had to call them, they've arrived promptly and were professional (not always very friendly, but professional).

However, I do know a guy who was smashed in the face with a police baton in the 1968 conventions, his nose is still crooked.

This is the PD that conducted one of the worst POLIC RIOTS (not my word, the Koerner Commission's) in the history of the US during the DNC in '68.

The truth is that the attacks by libs here on the board are exactly as you describe the blog. I just find it interesting that you call that bordering on pathology when the attacks by libs here are so over the top.
