I would think in the same way.
The problem is that even if one does not live in the States, one will have to live with the consequences of having McCain in the white House and I find that pretty scary.
A friend of mine, someone I work with, has a son attending school in England. This is the first election in which he is eligible to vote. He made this comment: "I will not move back to the U.S. if McCain-Palin win, simple as that."
These last few comment demonstrate that travelling and living abroad gives one a wider view on issues, opens one´s mind and helps people to look at things from different perspectives.
It also makes one more tollerant of other people´s point of view.

Thoughts?
There are a lot of reasonable thoughts in that response and having spent a good deal of time overseas that makes sense. He only has himself to consider at this point. For most with a family and such that is not a possibility so it doesn't make as much sense.
I'm not at all surprised at the student's comment. These past 8 years has made the US VERY unpopular all over the world,& to keep the Republicans in power would just be more of the same.
I say...all McCain supporters should follow Palin back to Wasilla after the election.
Now that would be interesting. There would be an uprising because all the people flowing in would water down the amount that each Alaskan would get back.
That would be a fun story to follow.
