Aside from a few very liberal inner city areas across this great land, the rest is all moderate or conservative.
Ah yes. That would be those pro-American places Palin likes to visit? Hey, I'm fine with it as long as you get the word out to the terrorists so next time they attack, they can be sure to hit "real" America and not those pesky anti-American inner cities.
Where did you get that statistic and what does it have to do with anything? Except for the very liberal inner city? Do you even know what you are talking about?
Alaska is also red of course, and if Alaska were placed over the lower 48 you get something like this although actually AK should be slightly bigger than shown: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...wer_48.svg.png
Maybe not 99.2 percent but it's a high number in any case. Most of the land is "red."
.......and 99.2% of all the places you stop, would be McCain country. Doesn't that bother you? Now don't get me wrong here, I realize people vote and not places, but it does really tell you something about the political makeup of this country.

Remember that left wing whack job liberals next time you venture out across this great land. You know us folks who cling to our guns and religion? We occupy 99.2% of the land mass!
I don't get really what you are talking about. I live in a red county in a very blue state. There are many red counties here... especially in Western or Central NY. Yet we're all feeling the effects of this economy... the slump in housing prices, the job loss, the $4+ prices for gas this summer. We all have someone in our families or know someone by now that has served in Iraq. One thing is for certain as you drive across this state... from the Adirondaks to the Catskills, to the southern Tier to the Leatherstocking areas.... not too many people will stick their neck on the line for Bush.... and not too many people have much affinity for that VP from Wyoming... a state which has less population their our own state capital.
We're not too divided around here.... everyone is pretty united that Bush needs to go... no matter who they are voting for.

I guess that explains why Montana, North Dakota, are toss ups, or why Colorado, New Mexico, and Nevada are leaning Obama.
Of course If I were taking a RV trip, I would also like to see those solid blue states of Minnesota Wisconsin, Michigan, New York, Pennsylvania, Maine, Vermont and New Hampshire.
Oh really? OK, here's my cross country trip hitting some of the top tourist destinations:
Start: Seattle--Obama country
Stop 1: Scenic Oregon Coast--Obama country
Stop 2: Yosemite, California--Obama country
Stop 3: Las Vegas--Obama country
Stop 4: Denver--Obama country
Stop 5: Mt. Rushmore, SD--nearby Rapid City is Obama country
Stop 6: Iowa--Obama country
Stop 7: Illinois--Obama country
Stop 8: Cleveland (gotta see the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame)--Obama country
Stop 9: New York--Obama country
Stop 10: Cape Cod--Obama country
Or, from Ohio swing south towards DC, another popular route.
You all are missing the point here. Literally, picture yourself in an RV, spending a month driving across the country. 99 of 100 places you might stop and visit, go to the bathroom, fillup for gas, camp, go swimming, etc are likely going to be places that the vast majority of the people support McCain. You can blurt out, "I support McCain" and find lots of folks the agree with you.
On the other hand, If you want to soley be among people where the vast majority support Obama, you have to pretty much stick with inner city areas. This is just a fact.
I do agree, all votes should always count equally. BUT, it does make you think.

Thanks, you read my mind! If I were taking an RV trip,I certainly wouldn't be sticking around here in the red plains of Kansas,Nebraska,Oklahoma, etc. Not much to see out here.
I've driven across this country twice, and what I encountered, without fail, were friendly, helpful, interesting Americans who cared about the same things I care about - feeding their families, playing with their grand-kids, paying off their mortgages, perhaps serving in the armed forces and giving something back to their communities.
We may differ on how best to achieve these things, but, those differences were never apparent to me when talking to the people I met along the way.
Raleigh, NC, the "inner city area" where Carolina Cowboy lives: Obama country.
