Oh. I see, so being hypocritical by calling 99.9% of Europeans "trash" is the answer?

ROCK ON DOOD!

Dude: YOU CAN'T say anything against the article and not come out smelling like a racist.

And really, who cares what some biased paper from across the Atlantic spews? Those morons still have "royalty" taxing them out their wazoos.

When white people can claim "white trash" or "whitey" or "cracker" as racial slurs and not have to worry about speaking their minds about those who historically vote democrat...then you've got an even playing field. Until then...you and your ilk just use it to your advantage.

You should be ashamed.

I care, and I am not ashamed.

Isolationism is not a good thing.

What is the "southern strategy" ? Does it differ from the inner city/public housing/welfare line "I'll pay you $25 an hour to round up people who never registered to vote in the public housing you live in to vote for the democrat at large" strategy?

Apparently you've been living under a rock. It's always the "white trash" or "religious white trash whites" or "stupid southerners with no clue" who apparently sway the vote when it goes Republican. FOR DECDADES.

Very broad brush. HUGE broad brush. Upton should be ashamed of him/herself.

What isolationism would you be speaking about?

I didn't say that. Perhaps you need to brush up on your reading comprehension skills.

What is a "Dood"?

This. Your personal isolationism and all-too-common, arrogant American attitude.

They don't set taxes, and not all Euro countries have royalty anymore. Most don't.

So, you're being ironic by complaining about Euros being uninformed about the US, because you obviously know little about Europe, where I happen to have scads of family and friends, many of whom have spent a great deal of time with.

I'd put ANY one of them up against you in in a contest about who knows more about the others' country. Most of them are required to learn English and study the US.

Anyway, it's very clear that you aren't interested in debate. See my status line.

Buh-bye.

Apparently the "economist" does come from a country where royalty is still huge.

Honey, 90% of my extended family live in Europe.

Not sure what knowing about the way life is in the US vs. European countries and who knows "more" means much at all.

What I DO know is that Europe is very pretty and full of history. The other thing I DO know is that Europeans are VERY VERY VERY jealous when they take that flight over the the US and see what "we" have vs. what they do not. Yet they gloss over it with their " I have 6 weeks vacation no matter how long I've been with a company"....and the little hovels they live in and their "healthcare programs" are pathetic (we've lost one too many Euro relatives due to the crappy socialistic healthcare and the famous "LISTS" you have to get on to get chemo, specialized care, etc") so please, don't pull the "I have relatives and friend in Europe" card on me.

Facts are what they are.

And there was nothing I ever posted that could be deemed "ironic".
