So who of you all think that the GOP will actually fire the talk radio guys? I think they'll become less relevant if they lose in 2012.
How can the GOP "fire" talk radio guys? I think that is up to the program director and the owner of the station. And as long as ratings are high, conservative radio hosts won't be fired.
Somehow Mort no longer believes in "the market place of ideas". He's another of those idiotic conservatives who preaches that;
1. "Deregulation is always the best of everything for everyone." Except when Carter deregulated the airlines.
2. "The US always needs to keep its nose out of other country's business." Except when a Republican President invades someone.
3. "We need to hold the line on spending". Unless there's some money that can be funneled to our friends.
Any right wing talking head that has a job today, is a lying, hippocritical sack of .... They change their stances more often than their underwear.
It's become impossible to know where any of these a**-ferrets stand. If you listen to them on FoxNews today, and then watch the video tape from yesterday, or the day before, or read the last article they wrote for NRO, there is never any consistency from one day, or medium, to the next.
You don't fire anyone bring in the rating ;just as CNBC doesn't fire obermann.Remember that all these guys got their satrt when their party was not in power. They will do very well now.
By firing I meant paying less heed to what they say--not actually firing them. Of course only station managers can do that.
Which is exactly what Kondracke is stating, it isn't about "firing" them as much as it is about them setting the priorities for the Republican agenda.
They aren't "loons" at all, they discuss issues that resonate with a large number of folks. While many might disagree with their sentiments, their listeners certainly appreciate that issues of concern to them are extensively and openly discussed on the airwaves.
Their issues need to be critically evaluated and appropriately taken into account by Republicans when deciding what issues to focus on for future election agendas. Ignoring them would be foolish, and fortunately the Republican leaders are too smart to disregard the legitimate concerns of the many listeners to their programs.
They and their listeners certainly have a place at the table for future elections, however the party needs to ensure that they establish the optimal position and priority on issues as events/decisions unfold, and not let these talk show hosts end up establishing all positions and priorities. Listening to their concerns and coming up with modified proposals to address issues is an acceptable approach too.
