For ford's sake, Joe Kennedy has been dead for decades.
The people of Massachusettes have voted Ted in year after year.
It's none of your business what another state chooses to do.

Give up your partisan hatred, will you?

Just another fine example of corruption in politics that some of us have issues with, some of us.

Doesn't matter how many time teddy boy was voted in... This is about him wanting a law changed.

As I dedicated "liberal", I'm sorry to have to come down on the "wrong" side of this issue, but it is the only fair and honest thing!

Liberals changed the law to "protect" themselves, now they have to live with it. . . cause and effect! Much as I think the law is ridiculous, it cannot be changed now! That would be "wrong"!

I believe it is the rest of the country's interest what another state does. With the senate being controlled by the Dem's.

Ultimately it's up to the people of Massachusettes, but there are ways to put pressure on the state legislators to do the right thing.

The right thing is to follow the law that's in place now and have a special election.

Pretty good chance another dem will fill the seat anyway, and it will be honest at least.

It would be just irony if Kennedy knows that healthcare will go down to defeat solely based on his foolish partisanship.

Hopefully, health care / insurance reform will not "go down", for this or any other reason, but this is a great lesson in extreme partisianship for all of us. . . or as my mother used to say "What's good for the goose is good for the gander". . . .

Democrats intend to change the rules every time in a way that gives them a big advantage.

They decided it should be this way. Now why can't they live under their own rules?

It would be more honest to remember that Republicans do the same thing. So many "redistricting efforts" are aimed at increasing the number of districts that are "republican controlled", while decreasing those that are likely to vote democratic! Neither side has a clean record in this regard, and neither side should "throw stones" so to speak!

There is a big difference between "jerrymandering" that occurs every 10 years (that both parties engage in) after the census and what Kennedy is suggesting. During the 2004 election cycle, the Dems in MA made a big deal of how the Gov appointing a replacement for a vacancy wasn't giving the people their fair say. Of course it was all about Romney having the ability to appoint someone if Kerry won the presidency. They changed the law before the election in Nov.

It just strikes as highly hypocritical that now Kennedy feels so differently. Why wasn't he making these same points in 2004? Because a Republican was Gov and for no other reason.
